Poor Things

From director Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster, Killing of a Sacred Deer) and screenwriter Tony McNamara comes visually stunning black comedy POOR THINGS, based on the novel by Alasdair Gray. Brilliant scientist Dr Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe) introduces one of his students, Max McCandles (Ramy Youssef), to the unusual Bella Baxter (Emma Stone). Seemingly of simple mind, Bella has the body of an adult and the intellect of a child. Quickly falling under Bella’s beguiling spell, Max is romantically gazumped by scoundrel Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo) who takes the curious Bella on a journey across the oceans. Exposed to wonders never before experienced, Bella learns as much as possible about the people and places she is introduced to before becoming wise to Duncan's wicked ways.
