The fates of two couples, thirtysomethings Lea and Andrea, and Rocco and Cecilia, twenty years older, collide by chance one night when Lea (Fogliati) and Rocco (Giannini) meet by chance in a bar and an instant attraction ignites between them. They begin a secret affair, consisting of fleeting, clandestine meetings in a hotel room. What seems at first to be an ordinary case of infidelity becomes obsessive as time passes. Lea tries to intrude more and more into Rocco’s life, with events taking an unsettling turn when she becomes a patient of Rocco’s therapist wife (a brilliant Valeria Golino).
