Nuclear war has reduced America to a post-apocalyptic wasteland, evil corporations control what remains of civilisation and scientist Paul Dean has created a flesh-eating parasite that has promptly taken up residence inside his stomach. Even worse, there’s another one on the loose and every time the slimy little bastard eats, it gets bigger. Fortunately, help arrives in the form of a young lemon farmer played by a 19-year-old Demi Moore, appearing in one of her very first film roles and presumably having absolutely no idea that Ghost, A Few Good Men and Stripteasewere waiting for her on the other side of this. Released in 1982 as “The First Futuristic Monster Movie in 3-D,” Charles Band’s PARASITE 3D is a wonderfully grindhouse collision of post-apocalyptic sci-fi, creature feature and early-’80s 3-D gimmickry, complete with monsters coming directly at your face and juicy creature effects from a team that included a pre-Terminator Stan Winston. Screening alongside FULL MOON RISING: THE CHARLES BAND STORY, this is Charles Band before the empire — but with the monsters, ingenuity and showmanship already firmly in place. And yes, we’re screening this banger in 3-D.
