A collection of shorts screening as part of the Animal Liberation Film Festival. RUNT (6:45) Seven-year-old Molly is eager to help on her family’s farm. GANIBARRA (19:13) To the Jirrbal people of Far North Queensland, the dingo is Ganibarra: kin, totem and teacher. Jirrbal cultural knowledge-holder Sonya Takau and her family share their enduring relationship with the dingoes of Country, confronting the colonial history of persecution and calling for deep listening, accountability and coexistence. FAULKNER: An Activist Story (20:00) After years of uncompromising animal-rights activism, Andy Faulkner begins to reconsider the methods and personal costs of protest. Moving from the confrontational Cube of Screams to the quiet mourning of The Animals’ Funeral, this intimate portrait follows an activist navigating conviction, cancellation and change. ÅRT (12:14) In the upper reaches of Austria’s Vöckla River, two scientists reintroduce endangered stone crayfish. Through quiet observation above and below the waterline, Årt explores conservation and asks what “home” means when it is shaped by place and the species with whom we share it. TIMOSHA (11:20) Trouble suddenly enters the happy, peaceful world of Timosha the hedgehog. Forced to leave his cosy home and begin again, he must learn to understand and accept a life he never chose. A gentle animated story about displacement, loss and starting over. MYLK (17:20) Lea and her daughter Rae are both newly pregnant and closer than ever. But as Lea’s reality begins to fracture, she becomes convinced that something malevolent lies beneath the nature of their motherhood. A psychological thriller that turns maternal love into an unsettling moral mirror. LEGAME MATERNO (15:00) Silvia lives with her son and a two-month-old calf in a small mountain village. After reporting her husband for domestic violence and animal abuse, she unexpectedly comes face to face with her tormentor in this tense drama about protection, courage and the bonds of care.
